CRG Members in the Community
CRG believes in and supports Community Education. CRG members have been invited panelists, speakers, and lecturers at Shasta College:
September 2003: “Exploring the Relationship between Civil Liberties and Security,” Sanjeev Bery, ACLU representative of Northern California, with Marian Jordan, Interlibrary Loan Library, Siskiyou County, at Shasta College.
September 2004: The Fog of War, film and panel, at Shasta College.
October 2004: Human Rights Panel, followed by discussion, at Shasta College.
October 2004: Uncovered: The Truth Behind the War in Iraq, documentary and panel, at Cascade Theatre, Redding, CA.
March 2005: “Compassion,” a lecture and panel, Shasta College.
April 2005: “Global Warming,” Dr. Michael Pitcher, a lecture and discussion, at Shasta College.
May 2005: “Depleted Uranium and the Iraq War: Secret Nuclear Madness,” Dr. Doug Craig, lecture and discussion, at Shasta College.
March, April, May 2005: Community Education Classes taught by Dr. Doug Craig: “Rich Media, Poor Media,” “The Many Faces of War,” “The End of Oil,” and “Ignoring the Alarm” Global Warming,” at Shasta College.
September 2005: “Independent Media and Democracy Now,” Dr. Doug Craig, lecture and multimedia presentation, at Shasta College.
March 2006: Race: The Power of an Illusion, documentary and panel, Shasta College.
March 2006: “Examining the Military and Alternatives,” a panel discussion, including a conscientious objector, veterans, and an educator, Shasta College.
October 2006: Lecture and Book Signing, Brady Kiesling, first US Foreign Service Officer to resign in protest of Iraq War, 2/25/03, Shasta College.
November 2006: Sir! No Sir!, documentary, followed by panel—faculty and veteran, at Shasta College.
Shasta College International Film Classes. CRG supports the diversity these films offer.
Black History Month Events every February at Shasta College and at the Martin Luther King Center. CRG supports these diversity events through participation.
High School Panels: CRG members serve as panelists to discuss alternatives to the military.
“A Season for Nonviolence,” Community Events, Spiritual Enrichment Center: CRG participates in these community events.
“Lanterns for Peace”: focuses attention on energy of daily living and creating a more peaceful way. CRG annually sponsors lanterns.
Earth Day Celebrations: CRG has co-sponsored annual Earth Day events, including booths, speakers, music, drum circles.
